ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate an outbreak of norovirus GII gastroenteritis in a school, and explore the causes, transmission routes and risk factors of the outbreak, and to provide a scientific basis and experience for effective control of outbreaks of acute gastroenteritis in schools. Methods A case study of an acute gastroenteritis outbreak in a school in Wujin District, Changzhou was conducted by field epidemiological investigation. Anal swab samples of patients and controls were collected, and enterovirus nucleic acid was detected by real-time fluorescent PCR. Results From December 12 to December 17, 2019, a total of 185 cases were identified, all of them from students of the school, with an incidence rate of 3.84% (185/4,822). All of the cases were distributed in three (7th/8th/9th) grades of the school, with attack rates of 5.38% (31 / 576), 18.71% (104 / 556) and 9.06% (50 / 552) in 7th, 8th and 9th grade, respectively, showing a significant difference among the grades (χ2=54.47,P<0.05). The attack rate of each floor of the teaching building from the first to fifth floor was 2.17% (5/230), 7.51% (26/346), 15.77% (53/336), 17.11% (65/380), and 6.38% (25/392), respectively, showing a statistically significant difference among different floors (χ2=55.66,P<0.05). A total of 32 anal swabs were collected, including 12 patients, 10 control students and 10 workers in the canteen. Of them, 9 specimens of the patients and 1 specimen of the workers were positive for norovirus type GII. Conclusion The school outbreak of acute gastroenteritis was caused by norovirus GII. Close contact between students was the main mode of transmission. A hidden infection of canteen staff may be related to this outbreak. It is important to promote popular science of norovirus prevention and to enhance the awareness of the risks of the virus.

ABSTRACT

PurposeThere is a certain correlation between parameters of CT perfusion imaging and pathological type and angiogenesis in lung cancer, in order to discuss the value of CT perfusion imaging parameters such as blood volume (BV), blood flow (BF), time to peak (TTP) and peak enhancement image (PEI) for prognosis, this study is designed to observe the relationship between the parameters of CT perfusion imaging and micro lymphovascular density (MLVD) in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).Materials and Methods 100 patients were enrolled in the study, all of them underwent CT perfusion imaging and 60 were diagnosed NSCLC by pathology, immunohistochemical staining was performed to determine the expressions of MLVD of the 60 NSCLC, and the correlation analyses were carried out to determine the relationship between CT perfusion imaging and MLVD.Results The expression of MLVD was the most in the peripheral tissue of cancer (25.16±1.28), the next in the cancer tissue (16.38±3.58), and the least in the normal lung tissue (7.56±4.38), the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). There was positive correlation between MLVD with BF and BV of the tumor (r=0.643 and 0.598, P<0.01).Conclusion Some parameters of CT perfusion imaging are correlated with MLVD, the invasion and metastasis in lung carcinoma can be predicted to some extent according to this correlation. Parameters of CT perfusion imaging such as BF and BV are correlated with MLVD in patients with NSCLC, thus can be used to predict the invasion and metastasis of lung cancer.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the relationship of the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF)and the mi-crovessel density (MVD)with multi-slice spiral CT perfusion imaging. Methods 80 patients with solitary pulmonary nodules under-went perfusion scan by 16-slice spiral CT.Among them,45 diagnosed as lung cancer by pathology were enrolled in the study. After surgery, the slice of the pecimen was selected similar to the corresponding slice of CT images, and the immunohistochemical staining was performed to determine the expression of VEGF and the MVD.Spearman correlation analysis was used to determine the rela-tionship of expression of VEGF and the MVD with CT perfusion parameters. Results There was more expression of VEGF and the MVD in NSCLC.There were positive correlations between VEGF,MVD and BF (both P<0.05).The peak enhancement image (PEI)and TTP have significant correlations with MVD (P<0.05).Conclusion Some parameters of lung CT perfusion imaging are correlated with MVD and VEGF.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUNDBrachytherapy offers an innovative method of delivering conformal high-dose radiation to a defining target tumor. The aim of this study is to investigate the value and effect of using radioactivity ¹²⁵I seed permanent implants combined with chemotherapy in the management of stage III or IV lung cancer.

METHODSForty-two lung cancer patients in stage III and IV (15 center lung cancer) who couldn't be relieved by routine methods were treated with ¹²⁵I seed permanent micropuncture implant brachytherapy and chemotherapy. The dose and distribution of seeds was decided by treatment planning system, and CT was used during ¹²⁵I seed permanent implant treatment. Distribution of seeds and complication was reviewed by CT scan after treatment. Chemotherapy was performed in 3 to 7 days after implanting. The effect was observed by X-ray, CT and MRI every 3 or 4 weeks.

RESULTSThe satisfaction rate of seed distribution was 83.3% (35/42). The response rate of treatment was 85.7% (36/42), including complete response rate 26.2% (11/42), partial response rate 59.5% (25/42), no change rate 14.3% (6/42). Effective rate of pain relief was 83.3% (15/18). Thirteen patients (31.0%) had complication of mild hemothorax, 8 (19.0%) with bleeding in lung and 5 (11.9%) with hemoptysis. Three patients (7.1%) had mild pneumothorax and 1 patient (2.4%) had a malposition seed. Leucopenia and radiation pneumonia didn't occurred.

CONCLUSIONS¹²⁵I seed micropuncture implant has less trauma and complication, and is a safe and effective method. This method might be helpful in the treatment of lung cancer and can be selectively used in clinic.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the clinical curative effect of titanium microplate to repair and fix obsolete cracky orbital fracture. Methods According to the diagnosis of CT scanning and three-dimensional imaging, 20 cases of obsolete orbital fractures were repaired and fixed by using titanium microplate along fracture lines. The microplates were placed according to the part nad shape of fractures. For the part of comminuted fractures, the two ends of fractures were fixed like a bridge. Results After the repair and fixation of titanium microplate, facial deformity became recuperative completely, eye-ball-movement and mastication function were recovered. During 6~12 months follow-up period, no reject reaction or cracking or dropping of microplate occured. Conclusions The titanium microplate can make orbital fractures rigid and internal fixed, and the procedure is simple and easy mastered. Therefore, it is one of the most effective materials in the repair and fixation of orbital and facial fractures.
